The Istituto Affari Internazionali, in collaboration with EST@energycenter – Politecnico di Torino, is pleased to announce the:

Africa’s Energy Future: discussing energy leapfrogging potential in Sub Saharan Africa

30 September 2021 from 11.00 to 13.00 CEST

Energy Center (Auditorium)Via Paolo Borsellino, 38 Turin

Sub-Saharan Africa is home to 75% of the world population without energy access; yet, many countries in the continent have been witnessing an extraordinary growth in access to power, largely thanks to renewables, which still hold a largely untapped potential across Africa. The continent’s energy future could lay in its leapfrogging potential: the possibility of leaping from a situation of low to no energy access, to a universally accessible and fully sustainable energy mix.

This event will present the results of “Africa’s Energy Future”, the joint research developed by the Energy Security Transition (EST) lab @energycenter – Politecnico di Torino and Istituto Affari Internazionali on energy leapfrogging in Sub Saharan Africa and, particularly, the two products delivered by this collaboration: the report and the web platform. The event will envisage speakers specialized in the four pillars of the analysis – renewables, decentralization, energy market and digitalization – and from the partners involved.

The meeting will be held in person in the city of Turin, in the conference hall of the Energy Center (Politecnico di Torino). It will be open to the public upon registration and will be streamed on the channels of the Energy Center and IAI.
